Shared Weather

Somewhere ahead, over the sea at dusk, the air is held in three layers: cold and dry near the water, warm and humid in the middle, warm and dry on top. A flat cloud floats where the humid layer sits. Lines of nozzles glow on the water and release fog on a slow program, and the drift of the air shapes it. There are no walls. You only know you are there by the weather.

The cloud is alive. It breathes with the music, thickens around people who stay still and parts around people who rush. Hold still with someone and a small cloud is born between you, then falls apart, and later gathers again somewhere else. Breathe out at the same moment as someone nearby and your breaths become a cloud. When someone leaves, their light lingers for a while where they were. Every so often the whole air falls silent at once.

Drag to look. W A S D or arrows to move, E and Q to rise and sink, Shift to go faster. Hold Space (or Breathe) to breathe in, let go to breathe out. Everyone who opens this page at the same time shares the same air: each soft light is a real person. When fewer than three people are here, simulated lights keep you company. Headphones recommended.
